Screenplays
Since graduating USC Film School in 2005, I've worked on my fair share of spec projects. Here are a few that I'm proud of.
Bury The Dead
My buddy and I started with this nugget of an idea for a TV pilot:
"What if we took The X-Files, crossed it with No Country for Old Men, and wrote a macabre allegory for addiction?"
Here's what we came up with.
My buddy, being the kick-ass novelist that he is, went on to adapt it into a novel.
You can buy it on Amazon here.
Sugar
We took The Third Man, one of our favorite movies (and one of the best film noirs ever made) and adapted it into a gritty neo-noir. Set against a Mexican criminal underworld where sex-trafficking is king, Sugar is one of the hardest things I've ever had to write. Still a work in progress.
30 ROCK
"The Point Break Principle"
On a lighter note, we also wrote a spec to bounce around some diversity writer's boot camps. Its north star is a little film called Point Break and its references include (but are not limited to) Deepak Chopra, Grand Master Flash, prime numbers, and early 2000's Saturday Night Live.
